Tom Lehrer - So long, mom

Very Doctor Strangelove-esque and perhaps more appreciated by the baby Boomers of the 1950s, Tom Lehrer raised the consciousness of the 1960's generation.

Argument to Beethoven's 5th

No cue cards, no teleprompters, and no second takes--legendary funnyman Sid Caesar pioneered live television sketch comedy with his 1950s sitcoms Your Show of Shows and Caesar's Hour. This classic sketch is "Argument to Beethoven's 5th," Sid Caesar and Nanette Fabray play a married couple in a argument with pantomimed action and the dialogue is classic music.

Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour December 1968

Classic TV: In December of 1968, the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour featured appearances by the Doors (doing their single "Touch Me" and the flip side "Wild Child"), standup by George Carlin, and sketches by The Committee (an improv group that included Howard Hesseman, Peter Bonerz, Carl Gottlieb, and others). Here's the entire episode, as it re-aired on E!, complete with memories of the show from some of the people involved

Norm from 'Cheers'

Not sure what season that's from, but that still makes me chuckle. As well as rue the fact that I don't have a situation in which I could drop that on anyone. (Until now... mbwah-ha-ha-ha!) You wanna talk about a Sisyphean task, imagine having to write a "Norm entry" for all 269 episodes. (Okay, maybe a few didn't have one, but that'd be research I'm just not willing to do. Not without beer.)

Here's a collection of winners from Cheers' first season. What's your favorite?
